Sarah has worked with Silvicon for five years intermittently from 2016 to now, starting with basic GPS data collection of block layout and compassing for timber cruisers, she has learned forestry on the job and takes every opportunity to further that knowledge.

Since then, she has progressed to a supervisory role, assisting in many multiphase contracts in varying timber types, from the planning and recce phase through to block layout and timber cruising. She also has experience in conducting beetle probing for Interior Douglas fir beetle, Mountain pine beetle, designing roads in the field, Cultural heritage resource identification, and assessments of riparian areas. Sarah has been an assistant on two establishment contracts for Vegetation Resource Inventory (VRI) including YSM and CMI permanent sample plots, and one re-measurement of a National forest inventory (NFI) contract. Over her years at Silvicon, Sarah has helped trained numerous summer students and new employees for day-to-day field-work, riparian assessments and layout. She takes pride in high-quality, complete work, and teaching others.

In 2021 Sarah completed her Silviculture module of the danger tree Assessor course, started timber cruising in both Interior Coastal ground and wildfire salvage ground. She has also completed the VRI course in 2022 and is certified for all types of permanent sample plots, including CMI. With a wide variety of external experience unrelated to Forestry, Sarah has has taken on the role of Social media manager for the Wetzink’wa Community Forest, using new methods to engage the community.
