Aurora Lavender started at Silvicon in January 2019 in the Timber Development Department and achieved her RPF in May 2021. She is originally from Toronto, Ontario, and before working at Silvicon, she completed her Masters in Forest Conservation at the University of Toronto. Her capstone project focused on monitoring the spread of invasive forest pests in an urban forestry context, targeting Gypsy Moth infestations in Southern Ontario.

Aurora has spent much of her time at Silvicon working in the Nass Timber Sale Area as a supervisor and project manager, working on multiphase block development, writing site plans, designing forest roads, and conducting timber reconnaissance. She has assisted in the Douglas-fir and spruce beetle probing projects in Williams Lake and the Wetzin’kwa Community Forest in Smithers. Aurora also aided in the Wildfire Risk Reduction projects in the Wetzin’kwa Community Forest and the Chinook Community Forest on the south side of Francois Lake.

As of 2021, she has moved to full-time work with Wetzin’kwa Community Forest as General Manager. She has a strong affinity for plants and mushrooms while enjoying hiking, cooking, and cross-country skiing in her spare time.
